A sanctuary for animals of all kinds, the White Barn Project seeks to provide a serene space for healing and connection. Believing in the inherent value of a long walk in nature and transformative power of a bond shared between child and animal, the White Barn Project creates opportunities for both. Our farm is currently home to a menagerie of horses, ponies, donkeys, alpacas, and a goat named Juanita. Partnering with various shelters and rescues throughout the country, the White Barn Project is dedicated to placing animals in loving homes. Some requiring extensive long-term care or having special circumstances that make their placement difficult end up calling Beaumont Farms their forever home.
We invite therapists, social workers, or learning specialists who are interested in exploring ways to integrate nature or animals in their work with children to connect with us for a tour and additional information.

As a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, The White Barn Project is a sanctuary for animals of all kinds to live out their lives in peace and with purpose. We provide lifelong care for those in need, foster deep connections between animals and people, and create opportunities for education, healing, and community engagement. Through compassion, stewardship, and collaboration, we work to protect and honor every life, inspiring others to join us in building a kinder world.

Warmblood Geldings
Once champions of the show ring, these gentle giants now lend their presence to the work of healing. Professionals wishing to incorporate them into therapeutic sessions must hold current accreditation from a recognized equine-assisted therapy organization, such as PATH Intl., EGE, or EAGALA. With the right guide, their quiet wisdom becomes a powerful tool for transformation.
COOKIE
Pony
A Virginia-bred champion who shined in California’s show rings, Cookie is now happily retired. He’s available for ground-based therapy sessions with accredited professionals, and may also be incorporated into non-therapeutic grooming or grazing activities with young clients—provided the supervising professional has strong horse experience.
JUANITA
Goat
Juanita wandered in on Thanksgiving 2022 and never looked back — escaping her fate as Christmas dinner and choosing sanctuary life instead. These days, she splits her time between her two best friends, Cookie and Mr. White, commuting via a special path we built just for her (because choosing between friends is hard). Juanita is available for light herding and is a very patient listener for beginner readers with big stories to tell.
VINCENTE
Miniature Horse
Named after Vicente Hernandez, this little dark charmer is big on personality and absolutely knows he’s handsome. He thrives on attention, delights in socializing, and never misses a chance to be admired. Suitable for a wide variety of ground-based activities, grooming, and leisurely grazing—with an audience, of course.
MARIA
Blonde Miniature Horse
Maria may be tiny, but her quiet wisdom runs deep. The reserved counterpart to her confident companion Vicente, she’s thoughtful, cautious, and slow to trust—but that makes earning her affection all the more special. Maria is a wonderful partner for specially designed activities that help children build patience, empathy, and impulse control.
RITA BLUE
Miniature Horse
Rita Blue has called the farm home since 2013, after being rescued from a tragic hoarding case involving over 300 abandoned animals. Too fragile to be adopted, she found safety and comfort here, where she’s spends her days surrounded by care and calm. Though completely blind, Blue moves through the world with steady grace, enjoying slow grazing, soft grooming, and the gentle presence of those around her.
GIGI
Miniature Horse
Gigi is gentle, loving, and full of quiet grace. Rescued from auction in 2021 after a life marked by cruelty, she came to Beaumont Farms as her forever home. Her body bears the scars of her past, but her spirit remains open, kind, and full of love. Some say she was lucky to find us—we know it’s the other way around. She’s suitable for brushing, grazing, story time, and any calm moment shared with care.
GEORGE
Yellow Labrador Retriever Dog
George arrived with the beginnings of therapy dog training and quickly became everyone’s favorite mascot. Gentle and intuitive, he’s a comforting companion for children building trust, practicing communication, or enjoying a quiet moment. Though now deaf, George still listens in all the ways that matter—and will happily chase a ball if the mood strikes.
MR. WHITE
Alpaca
Mr. White joined the farm in 2014 and has been quietly observing everything ever since. He shares a pasture with Mr. Black, but his true best friend is Juanita the goat. More trusting than his stoic roommate, he’ll engage—or even take a treat—from those willing to wait. Nearly silent by nature, Mr. White is especially well-suited for children with auditory sensitivities and those who appreciate the power of calm.
MR. BLACK
Alpaca
Mr. Black wasn’t supposed to be here—his mother survived a rattlesnake bite while pregnant, and against the odds, so did he. Rejected by his original herd, he found his place here instead. Though standoffish and slow to engage, his quiet presence speaks volumes. He remains a powerful reminder of resilience for all who visit the farm.
Sicilian Donkeys
Sicilian Donkeys are celebrated for their sensitivity, steady calm, and quiet wisdom. Our herd reflects all of that—and then some. Together, they offer grounded companionship and patient presence—well-suited for reading, talk therapy, and sensory-based sessions with learning specialists and therapists.
MR. PICKLES
Donkey
Mr. Pickles stands tall as the watchful guardian and leader of our small herd. Larger in stature, Mr. Pickles commands respect-though his mighty willpower quickly crumbles if tempted with apples or watermelon from the garden.
MRS. PICKLES

Mrs. Pickles arrived as a bonded pair with Mr. Pickles. The youngest and smallest of our little herd, Mrs. Pickles is more timid than the rest of her donkey friends. She may take her time to build trust, but her gentle presence serves as kind reward for those patient enough to earn it.
DREAM
Donkey
Dream arrived at the farm in 2013 as a bonded companion to Lulu. Calm, constant, and affectionate, she remains Lulu’s loyal friend. Wise and kind, Dream offers grounded companionship—well-suited for reading, talk therapy, and sensory-based sessions with learning specialists and therapists.
LULU BELLE
Donkey
Lulu leads our herd with deep intuition and a quiet confidence. Once a breeding Jenny, her maternal instincts provide comfort to all who visit.
BUDDY
Donkey
Buddy, the spotted Sicilian donkey and resident mischief-maker, brings levity and curiosity to the group. Often seen playing with Mr. Pickles or turning any found object into a new toy, he adds playful energy while still offering grounded companionship and patient
